The short version

Clearcast looks up weather and air quality for a place you choose. Here's what that means in practice:

• We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect your name, email, or any personal identifier.

• Your location is only used, with your permission, to fetch conditions for where you are - it isn't tracked in the background or stored on any server we run.

• The only data saved is on your own device: your last-viewed place, up to three saved locations, your six most recent searches, and your unit preference (°F/°C).

• There are no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and we never sell data - there's nothing to sell.

1. Information We Collect

Location

When you tap "Use my location," Clearcast requests your device's foreground location permission and uses your coordinates to look up weather and air quality for that spot. Location is never accessed in the background, and no ongoing history of your movements is kept — the app asks for your position only at the moment you tap that button. The place it resolves to (its name and coordinates) is then saved on your own device so the app can reopen to it, as described below.

You can also skip location entirely and search for a city by name instead.

Preferences, stored only on your device

Clearcast saves a small amount of state locally on your phone, using standard on-device storage (never transmitted to us):

• The last place you viewed, including its coordinates, so the app opens to it next time
• Up to three locations you've explicitly chosen to save
• Your six most recent location searches, so they're quick to return to
• Whether you prefer Imperial or Metric units

This data lives entirely on your device. We have no server that stores it, no account it's attached to, and no way to see it. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your device settings, removes it completely.
